What to do from the Hotel Royal in Nice?
Sports and leisure in Nice
Nice and the surrounding area are bursting with natural treasures. Between the sea and the mountains, there's plenty to keep you busy. Hiking, biking or water sports, take your family on the wildest adventures.

Hiking around Nice
The landscapes of the Alpes Maritimes are a veritable invitation to hike. You'd be wrong not to. Bear in mind, however, that it can be hot and the coastal paths are not always shaded. Don't forget your cap, sunscreen and water bottle!
The Grande Corniche departmental forest park is an inexhaustible playground for hiking enthusiasts. Bordered on one side by the Saint-Tropez coastline and on the other by the Mercantour mountains, it dazzles with its diversity of landscapes, cliffs and typically Mediterranean vegetation. Its assets:
- An area of 712 hectares
- 450 plant species
- Large birds of prey to watch
We recommend the Forna military route, an easy hike accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Bike rides
On vacation, we park the car and adopt ecomobility. It's time for a family outing that will delight young and old alike. We recommend the tour of Lac de Broc. It's an easy ride, ideal for a picnic by the lake, even if swimming is prohibited.
If you're a seasoned cyclist looking for wide-open spaces, try the tour of the lower Estéron valley. You'll cover 88 km discovering typical villages, with incredible views of the Mercantour and the lower Var valley. A sublime circuit reserved for the more athletically inclined: 1307 m ascent.
The city of Nice also offers guided bike tours: the Nice cycle tour. Rent your equipment on site if you wish, and discover the city's history.

Water sports around Nice
Nice is bordered by 8 km of beach. It's impossible to miss out on the multitude of activities offered by the water sports clubs and schools that line the seafront. Even if the swim-transat-sandcastle option remains a classic that we encourage, it would be a shame to miss out on the rest.
You'll easily find a number of water sports centers offering a wide range of activities. All are supervised by instructors and teachers. Among their offerings:
- Parasailing
- Towed buoy
- Paddle, kayak, windsurfing
- Scuba diving...

Try a day of canyoning
For an unforgettable family activity, treat yourself to a day of canyoning. The Cramassouri canyon, at the entrance to the Tinée, is accessible from age 8, and ideal for beginners. Its morphology was altered by storm Alex in 2020, but it remains a magnificent and much-appreciated course. For other sites, consider the Gorges du Loup. Access is easy and the scenery is magnificent.
Swim with dolphins
Are your children among those who dream of swimming with dolphins? Why not? Embark from Antibes and spend a day at the Pelagos sanctuary, a protected area home to 25,000 dolphins. You'll be able to get up close and swim with them!
