A visit to the Musée Grévin as part of your weekend in Paris

Your hotel near the Grands Boulevards is just a ten-minute walk from the Musée Grévin. A guided tour of the waxworks is highly recommended.

You can pose alongside the stars at the Musée Grévin. In 2015 some big names in culture and sport made their first appearance here, such as Line Renaud, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Michelin-starred chef Anne-Sophie Pic, to name but a few. This unusual museum, which opened its doors in 1882, is the ideal place to hang out with the glitterati!

Getting there from your 3-star hotel in Paris could not be easier. Take rue Bergère, turn left into rue du Faubourg Montmartre and then take boulevard Montmartre. It’s just a ten-minute walk – and the perfect way to get your weekend in Paris off to a great start!

History

The museum’s founder was called Arthur Meyer, a journalist who wanted to put faces to the biggest names of the day. He called on the humorous artist, costume designer and sculptor Alfred Grévin to give concrete shape to his original idea. With the financial support of one Gabriel Thomas, the project was launched in 1882 and was a resounding success from day one! Since then, the museum – just a hop from your hotel on the Grands Boulevards – has brought visitors face to face with all the greats in entertainment, sports and current affairs …

The favourites of your 3-star Paris hotel

Begin your visit to the museum with the Palais des mirages, a sound and light show first presented at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. Then move from room to room and meet the greats in their magnificent settings:

  • Marguerite Youcenar at the literary café
  • Fabrice Lucchini in the magnificent Italian theatre,
  • Michelangelo under the cupola,
  • The world’s greatest sports champions …

After marvelling at the waxworks, you can discover how they are made. There’s also a space dedicated to children, where they can meet the Little Prince and other comic and film heroes (Titeuf, etc.)

Other ideas for your Paris weekend

The visit to the museum should take you about an hour and a half. It’s a perfect way to begin the day, and just a hop from your hotel near the Grands Boulevards. If you want to get to know the district, we recommend a few unusual highlights: the Grand Rex, the Folie Bergères or the boutique completely dedicated to Elvis Presley.
