Your stay in Nice: Three things to know about Euro 2016

The Le Royal, your hotel in Nice, has some valuable information for you about the football tournament that will be taking place across France from 10 June to 10 July 2016.

The capital of the Côte d’Azur is one of the ten French host cities for the UEFA Euro 2016 Championship.

This is the perfect occasion for you to plan a springtime stay in Nice! While the opening and closing matches will be played at the Stade de France, other games in the competition have been divided up among various major stadiums across the country.

Four matches are scheduled for the Allianz Riviera Stadium

The Allianz Riviera Stadium in Nice opened in 2013. With a capacity for 35,000 spectators, it is the sixth-largest stadium in France. An environmentally-friendly construction, it is fitted with 4,000 solar panels and a rainwater collection system that is used for watering the pitch.

Four of the tournament’s matches will be held here:

  • Poland v Northern Ireland at 6 pm on 12 June;
  • Spain v Turkey at 9 pm on 17 June;
  • Sweden v Belgium at 9 pm on 22 June;
  • And the round of 16 match between the second-placed teams in Groups B and F at 9 pm on 27 June.

Getting to the stadium from your hotel in Nice, or…

Since our hotel is located on the Promenade des Anglais, the most practical way of getting to the stadium is by car, a drive of just 10 kilometres. Just one thing: think about booking a parking space in advance (there will be over 12,000 spaces available). Free shuttle buses will be running between the car parks and the stadium every three minutes.

Alternatively, our hotel is organising a private bus which you can use to go to the matches. It will be departing from outside the Hotel Le Royal and will take you straight to the stadium at a cost of €35 per person.

If you prefer to use public transport, you can catch the number 52 bus, which stops just two minutes away from the hotel. Get off at the Les Pugets stop and change to the number 11 bus for the stadium.

The team at the Hotel Le Royal is at your disposal if you need any more information or would like to book any other excursions.

… Watch the matches at the Fan Zone

Don’t have a ticket for any of the matches? Come and watch them at the Fan Zone! This is located in the Albert 1st gardens, just beside your hotel on the Promenade des Anglais.

Two giant screens will be set up there and you can watch all the matches played in Nice, all the ones involving the French team and every match from the quarter finals through to the final.
